The Weight of Forward was created as a companion to After the Turn. Designed in response to the space it inhabits, the work draws from the existing palette, flow, and structure of its surroundings rather than imposing a new visual language.

Like After the Turn, this painting emerged through a process of transformation. The original surface was painted over, and the accompanying frames were refinished and re-stained as part of the work’s evolution. While the intention was for the two pieces to relate, the goal was not uniformity. Instead, the work maintains its own presence — connected, but not echoing — allowing each painting to stand independently while remaining in quiet conversation with the other.
