“Dwelling” is the fourth and final piece in the Michigan AirBnB collection. Like its sister piece, “Migration”, it combines charcoal and pastel to depict a secluded home nestled within a quiet landscape of grasses and forest.
Created during an ongoing exploration of expressive mark-making, the work places less emphasis on precise representation and more on evoking a sense of place. Layered textures, softened edges, and marks work together to suggest the feeling of retreat, stillness, and belonging. The house emerges from the landscape as a memory—sheltered by its surroundings.
